Gadgetbridge replaces the vendor app for a long list of devices. It pairs over Bluetooth, stores data locally on your phone, and doesn’t need an account.
Devices with good support
From Gadgetbridge’s own device pages:
- Rings: Colmi R02/R03/R06 are “highly supported” (Yawell/Colmi). Ultrahuman Ring AIR is partially supported (Ultrahuman).
- Watches/bands: many Garmin models (Fenix, Forerunner and more), Amazfit/Zepp OS, Xiaomi Smart Band 8/9, Huawei/Honor, Bangle.js, PineTime.
- Sensors: Polar H9/H10 heart-rate straps (Polar).
Support levels vary by model. Check the specific page before you buy.
The auth-key catch
Some brands (Xiaomi, Amazfit/Zepp, Huawei) encrypt the Bluetooth link with a per-device key. Gadgetbridge explains how to obtain it in its pairing docs and the Huami/Xiaomi server pairing guide. Usually you pair once with the official app to get the key, then switch.
Getting data out
Gadgetbridge stores data in a local database you can export, and it supports automation intents for tools like Tasker. That’s a route into Home Assistant or your own scripts.
Trade-offs
You lose vendor features like coaching scores, some firmware updates, and cloud sync between phones. You gain full control and no account. For many devices you can switch back to the official app later.
